Puella Magi Madoka Magica as a deconstruction

Puella Magi Madoka Magica is a deconstruction of the magical girl genre. In other words, it takes the tropes present in the magical girl genre and asks (as TVTropes puts it) “How would this trope play out with real life consequences applied to it?”

Anyway, exactly what tropes Madoka Magica was deconstructing wasn’t apparent to me at first. It took a while for it all to sink in. So I decided to make a post highlighting these tropes and their deconstructions so others can see just how epically Madoka manages to pull it off!

I might add onto this later! In addition, anyone can feel free to chip in with their own two cents! Also, suffice to say, this is extremely spoileriffic so I wouldn’t read this until you’ve finished the whole series.
